Two brothers from a small village outside Waterford have designed a retrofit system for vacuum-type slurry tanks that exchanges the PTO drive for a fixed hydraulic motor.
The design is an excellent example of machinery risk reduction. It eliminates hazards associated with connecting and disconnecting the PTO drive to the factor, maintenance on the PRO drive shaft and safety guarding, plus damage occurring to the pump by operational errors.
Safe Shaft supplies a new base plate which the vacuum pump and hydraulic motor is mounted on. The unit requires the use of hydraulic pipes from the tractor to provide the oil to run the hydraulic pump, with connections similar to almost any other towed agricultural equipment.
The design also has built-in simple engineering principles which prevents damage occurring to the pump by operational errors.
