Lynx Engineering who import and distribute Dromone’s range of mechanical and hydraulic tractor pick up hitches in the UK was at the recent agricultural show LAMMA with its latest trailer hitching safety system.
The system secures a chain to the trailers drawbar and to the tractors hitch plate using two brackets, which is designed to stop a trailer running away in the event of accidental unhitching. An adjustable chain length has minimal movement to catch the trailer instantly if detachment occurs.
Developed to meet the tough trailer regulations in Ireland, the company reports that farmers and contractors in the UK are fitting the system for reassurance when towing heavy loads down busy roads.
The UK might not have the same stringent towing laws as the ROI but the company believes its only a matter of time before this secondary coupling system becomes a standard.
