Driving in the winter nights the NFU are asking people to think about the suitability of your vehicle’s lighting.
Don’t have your work lights on whilst on the road as they can dazzle other motorists. Also, it’s illegal to show white light to the rear of a vehicle (other than reversing lights).
It is also of paramount importance that your machinery is properly maintained to reduce the risk of machinery-related farm accidents. Make sure your machinery has undergone a thorough ‘health check’ by using the NFU Farm Vehicle Health Check Scheme.
The Farm Vehicle Health Check Scheme is a joint initiative by the NFU, NAAC and BAGMA. It provides information on how to select use and maintain your machinery.
It is a Code of Practice which aims to assist operators to comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations in a practical manner using a common set of forms.
