Farmers warned after bull attack

A farmer has died after being attacked by a bull in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The bull was shot after consultation with the vet and family members.

The Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) is warning farmers to take extreme caution when dealing with livestock.

Recently a 61 year old grandmother died after being trampled by a cow whilst out walking with her family in Northumberland.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) is advising:

Always:

work out an escape route or refuge before working with bulls
use well-designed facilities
regularly check and maintain facilities such as the crush, gates and fences
and never turn your back on a bull or trust a bull
