Machinery compliance assessment and Brexit

Although the UK is currently negotiating to leave the European Union (Brexit), this political process does not prevent Newmac Ltd from continuing to undertake EU machinery compliance assessment.

The following summary confirms the services which Newmac Ltd currently undertakes and will be able to provide once the UK has confirmed its departure from the EU;

  • Ability to access via authorised providers the relevant compliance reference documentation such as EU harmonised standards. The UK will maintain relationships with the committees who draft the legislative guidance such as CEN and CENELEC after Brexit is concluded.
  • To have the necessary skills, competence and knowledge to risk assess machinery and recommend updates to both the designs and supporting documentation (e.g. operator’s manuals) to demonstrate compliance.
  • Draft technical files in accordance with the relevant EU Directives to support Declarations of Incorporation or Conformity.
  • Where necessary investigate and identify the appropriate routes for undertaking EU type approval of machinery (e.g. for mobile machinery and braking compliance).
